How to register a marriage

1. Application. Together, submit a marriage registration application at the civil registry office in person, or electronically with a secure e-signature.
2. State fee — 14 € paid when you apply. The municipality sets the price of a ceremonial or off-site wedding separately.
3. Date. The marriage is registered no earlier than one month and no later than six months after the application is accepted, so book popular summer dates early.
4. What to bring. Both partners' passports or eID cards, and two adult witnesses with ID.
